I thought about not giving a review because I don't want A Sprig of Thyme to become SO popular that it's too difficult to get into, but the restaurant, as well as it's staff, are so deserving of accolades that I just had to add mine. The Twin petit filet mignons, the Shrimp & Scallops, the short ribs, the wild salmon encrusted with buttered pistachios ALL fantastic! The portions are nicely sized too. We shared the Rolled Grilled Salad, which was divine, as well as the Shrimp & Lobster Cargot.also divine. Both of these are very much appreciated by me &, in my opinion, raise a restaurant up a notch when the waitstaff is intimately familiar with the menu. The waiter knows every bit of the menu.the ingredients, preparation, etc. It was my birthday celebration & all of us were very pleased. None of us had been to A Sprig of Thyme before, but it had been referred to us by a family friend, so we decided to give it a try. Kudos to the chef and staff at A Sprig of Time. This was our best dining experience in Sarasota so far and we’ve had some very nice meals. Desserts of tiramisu and chocolate cake were equally well prepared. Everyone was very happy with these delicious entrees. He suggested sharing the Rolled Salad, which was appropriate, and appreciated since who wants to pay for more food than they can it? Our party ordered the Filet Mignon, the large sea scallops wrapped in bacon and prosciutto, the Canadian duck, and the Shrimp with zucchini noodles. He was knowledgeable about the food and drinks, even googling Tilefish (the catch of the day) for us when we had questions. Our waiter was friendly while being efficient as he took care of several tables that all filled at once. This is a small restaurant with limited staff, and one chef and they have this format down to a tee. The ambiance, service and food were all top notch. We had a fabulous dining experience last night at A Sprig of Thyme.
